ParTrek privacy policy

Last updated: 3 November 2026

The short version: ParTrek has no accounts or sign-in. Your rounds, journal entries, practice sessions and stats are kept in local app storage on your iPhone unless you share them or back them up yourself. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads and we don't track you. Subscriptions use Apple and RevenueCat. Course searches (and an approximate Near me location, if you use it) go through our server to a golf course data provider. Embedded coaching videos connect to YouTube, and optional voice scoring uses Apple's speech recognition. The details are below.

Who we are

ParTrek is a golf score and practice app for iPhone, published by Corneil Efoma ("we", "us", "our"). We are responsible for the limited personal data processed for ParTrek, as described in this policy. You can contact us about privacy at corneil@efoma8consulting.co.uk.

What the app stores on your device

ParTrek stores what you enter locally on your iPhone, in the app's standard storage. That includes:

This data isn't uploaded to our server, isn't synced to any cloud and isn't linked to an account, because the app has no account system. You can export it or share it yourself using the system share sheet or file tools. Receiving apps and backup providers handle copies under their own policies. Deleting the app removes it from your device.

Companion mode and journal entries

If you use ParTrek alongside another scorecard app, you can keep a journal of a round instead of, or as well as, scoring it in ParTrek. A journal entry can contain the course, date and number of holes; your answers to the prompts (How did it go?, Best shot, What cost you, One thing to work on); quick tags; optional notes and tags for individual holes; photos you attach; and, if you choose, a score you type in from another app such as VPAR (gross, net, Stableford points, position and the app's name).

Journal entries are stored locally on your device in the same way as your rounds. They aren't sent to our server or to any third party. Choosing another scorecard app (such as VPAR, Squabbit, The Grint or SmoothSwing) during setup only saves its name as a preference. ParTrek doesn't connect to that app or exchange any data with it. Journal entries and your companion mode settings are included when you back up (export) and restore your data.

Backups and restore

You can export a backup file and restore it later from the Profile tab. Backups include your rounds, journal entries, practice sessions and other app data, including your companion mode settings. Photos and videos aren't copied into the backup file. It holds only references to the files on your device, so attached media may not appear if you restore on a different device. Where you keep a backup file (for example in Files or iCloud Drive) is your choice, and that service's own policy applies.

What we don't do

Subscriptions and purchases

ParTrek Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription: £1.99 per month or £12.99 per year, or the local equivalent shown by Apple. New subscribers get 14 days free, where offered and subject to eligibility. Apple shows the offer, its length and the price before you confirm. Subscriptions are bought through Apple In-App Purchase and managed by RevenueCat, a third-party subscription service.

To manage and validate subscriptions and restore purchases, RevenueCat processes a random app user ID that its software creates on your device, your purchase history and subscription status, device and OS information, and your IP address. We don't give RevenueCat your name, email, profile, rounds or journal entries. These records are linked to your subscription and used to run the app, not for advertising or tracking. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.

Apple handles all payments. ParTrek never sees your card or payment details. You can cancel in iPhone Settings > your name > Subscriptions, or in your App Store account settings. Deleting the app doesn't cancel a subscription.

Golf course search and Near me location

Course search is a ParTrek Pro feature. Tapping Near me asks for location permission while you're using the app and takes a single low-accuracy reading. There's no background tracking. The app rounds the latitude and longitude to two decimal places (roughly 1 km) on your device before sending them to our server, which forwards them to the UK Golf Course Data API through RapidAPI to find nearby courses. You can deny location and search by course name instead. Course names you type go to the same services.

Our server caches course results with a 24-hour freshness window. Search terms and rounded coordinates can appear in request logs and cache files, and they aren't guaranteed to be deleted after 24 hours. Network services also receive technical information such as IP addresses. Our server is hosted by Replit. See RapidAPI's privacy policy and Replit's privacy policy. Saved courses stay on your device.

Voice scoring (ParTrek Pro)

Voice scoring is optional and only starts when you tap the microphone. It asks for Microphone and Speech Recognition permission, and your speech is converted to text by Apple's speech recognition. ParTrek asks iOS to do this on your device. Where on-device recognition isn't available for your device or language, Apple may process the audio on its servers under Apple's privacy policy.

ParTrek doesn't record or save audio and doesn't keep transcripts. Only the scores, putts, tags and notes you confirm are saved on your device, and no audio or transcripts are sent to our server. You can turn off access at any time in Settings > ParTrek.

Photos and videos

We ask for photo library access only when you choose photos or videos to attach to a round, journal entry or diary entry. We read only the media you pick and don't browse your library in the background. Attached media stays on your device.

Crash and performance information

ParTrek doesn't include a crash-reporting, performance-monitoring or analytics SDK. If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may give us crash and performance reports that aren't linked to you, under Apple's privacy policy. We use them only to fix problems.

Third-party content: YouTube

Coaching clips in ParTrek are streamed from YouTube. Loading or playing an embedded clip connects to YouTube (a Google service), which may process IP addresses, device and browser information, identifiers and playback activity under Google's privacy policy. We don't control this and don't receive that data. If you'd rather not use YouTube, don't open the clips. Scoring works offline, although course search and subscription checks need a network connection.

Sharing

When you share a round, a share card or a backup through the system share sheet, the receiving app (Messages, Mail and so on) is governed by its own privacy policy, not ours.

Why we use your data

Under UK data protection law, we rely on: contract, to provide and validate your ParTrek Pro subscription and restore purchases; legitimate interests, to run course search, keep our server secure and fix problems; and your permission through iOS for location, microphone, speech recognition and photo access, which you can withdraw at any time in Settings.

Some of our providers (Apple, RevenueCat, RapidAPI, Replit and Google/YouTube) may process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, they rely on safeguards recognised under UK data protection law.

ParTrek is a general-audience golf app, not a service directed at children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how ParTrek handles data, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above, and mention material changes in the App Store release notes.
